ABOUT EM / ABOUT THEM

Em Adam is an actor, vocalist-musician, arts administrator, and visual artist based in Minneapolis, MN.

Em has been rooted in the Twin Cities for the past decade. Originally from the Chicagoland area, they moved to Minneapolis to pursue a dual degree in Theatre Arts and Business Administration/Marketing at the University of Minnesota. Recent theatre credits include the Guthrie Theater, History Theatre, Children’s Theatre Company, Trademark Theater, Ten Thousand Things, Third Space Theater (Company Member), and The Gray Mallard Theater Co.

They are currently developing their first solo piece, The Boy Who Cried, weaving personal narrative with the familiar fable to be performed in April 2026 at The Hive Collaborative.

They are rooted in physical storytelling and reframing the classical to the contemporary. One time (for their senior thesis), they spent several months researching the use of pronouns as they relate to time in Samuel Beckett’s works for the stage, then created a piece about it. They always imbue their work with a bit of magic.

As a queer, trans/non-binary performing artist, they embrace the fluidity, complexity, and power within their artistic expression and work to uplift all trans/GNC artists.

Em is the eldest of 8 and cares deeply for those around them. They strive to maintain people-first, process-oriented work environments.

Offstage, they serve as an arts administrator and marketer for Theatre Novi Most.
